... but who are you?

Acts 19:11
Now God worked unusual miracles by the hands of Paul, 12 so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them. 13 Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists took it upon themselves to call the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, “We[a] exorcise you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches.” 14 Also there were seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did so.
15 And the evil spirit answered and said, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?”
16 Then the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, overpowered[b] them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

The demons know the name of the Jesus, and tremble. Paul to was known as someone to be feared. In the theater of my mind, I see the demons almost laughing, sarcastically, "Who's this guy?! He thinks he has power?! " Even the demons saw through his facade, what the Jewish Priest wanted was the glory without the sacrifice that comes with the power.

You see, there is a difference between the knowledge OF Jesus, and KNOWING Jesus and the power of His resurrection.

Do you know the power of Christ?
Do you actively tap into that power in your daily life?

Blessings,
Charity

  1. You know... this is just coming to me because I'm a little slow but it's just like you said. We think that we can just live our lives in sin and without a care in the world. Then when something comes along we try the ol in Jesus name on it. We just lucky we're not getting beat senseless afterward. Wouldn't it be awesome to hear... Jesus I know... Paul I know... Doc and Charity I know.... but who are you? Imagine a demon shaking at the sound of your name? Pretty awesome.
