JT never got back to me regarding the firewall issue so I doubt we will have a live webcam this morning.  It's a work in progress and I don't know if we'll be able to end up doing it, but we'll have it up on youtube shortly after I can get home and chop it up.  thanks

10/27 Weekly reachout

Hey folks,

I want to give you all some info regarding some upcoming adventures. Hallelujah Night is approaching quickly. We still have a couple of slots available. Some of you have agreed to stay and help clean up. This is awesome and much appreciated. We do need to fill our slots though for the regular times. Amy and I will be there a little early Friday and we have an early time slot. We hope to help set everything up. Some of you are planning on being there most of the day. BRAVO!

For the past several weeks, I have been announcing the Relentless Conference happening November 5 and 6th. This conference is also open to men. There is an attachment on this e-mail explaining all of the details.

Don't forget to blog. Doc and Jessica are looking forward to some good discussions. Make it happen. We will live web cam this weekend and last weeks lesson is available on youtube. Again, the technology team has outdone itself. God has given all of you incredible talent and I am in awe as I watch you do what God has given you to do.

I really believe that God is going to do great things with the people of this and many other classes. Maybe we can be the conduit God uses to bring revival to this land!

Romans 8: 26-27

Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities:for we know not what we should pray for as we ought:but the Spirit Itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

The saying goes, " Have you ever prayed until you prayed?" I am hopeful that I will reach this end in my praying. Let's just say that there are some very tough times in which we have absolutely no clue where to begin with our prayers. God says that in the toughest of times, when the answers are completely hidden from you, when you are in complete disarray, He will step in during your prayer time and pray for you. You might have no idea how to ask Him, but He knows. Set aside your baptist play books for a minute because God says it can even be done in ways we do not understand. This is the best of every world. I can pray for the things I need, and when I don't know what those things are, He'll step in and intercede for us in prayer. Now that's THE God! We can all rest assured that God will answer His own prayers. Thank Him today for helping us in our darkest hours. Thank Him for knowing what's best! Thank You God!

Hallelujah night and other things

I haven't checked to see, but at last notice we still needed some people to sign up to man the games at hallelujah night Friday. It's really easy and you get to act like a good person handing out candy to the kids. Also, if you signed up.... PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU COME! Last year we were in a different class and 3 people who signed up didn't come which made me work 1 1/2 hrs setting up the wall of Jericho (which is a labor intensive game anyway). So show up and have fun for the kids.

Also, If anyone has a line on a cheap aluminum extension ladder that's 20' please let us know.

Be sure to check out the youtube videos below of the class to see what all you missed while you were day dreaming during class! ;-) So I get that I'm grass, but why must I be in the guy who mows his yard every other day 's yard? Continually cut and pruned for God.

Just wow....

Y'all the devil has been messing so much with me today. This morning was chaos with the church blocking the webcam sites so I couldn't get it set up. So then we got home and I transferred the 500 meg file to the home computer to chop it up and put on youtube. I got it cut up to less than 15 minute blocks (youtube requirement) and went to post it here when my hard drive crashed. So I need y'all to pray for whatever purpose God has planned for here and our class because it's obvious how scared Satan is at the things God has planned. I just pray that God can take this tool and use it to spread his word to the darkest corners and penetrate that darkness. I pray that for every curve ball and obstacle the devil puts in our way that God will use it as a multiplier to the souls won and lives repaired and rededicated. I pray that Jesus' name be exalted and his word known. May we all be hidden behind the cross and all the credit be to the Lord.

Sometimes everything will look fine to me, but not work at all for everyone else because of a silly codec or something. So please let me know if it works for you or not. Hi Ryan & Amy & the Foundations class,
I need yall to help me with something, or more specifically help two 8 year old boys, one being a special needs child, who are in much need of fall/winter clothes. The family is strapped & stressed to put it mildly & without going into detail just know that they are struggling & the boys are living with their grandmother. We are assisting the family but the boys sure could use some help with clothes. New or lightly used would be fine, they of course aren't picky. I have their sizes which are listed below. Please bring any clothing item that you can to class by next Sunday 10/31 & we will make sure they get to the little guys. This is the stuff Jesus would do...& I always think about what He said..."Whatever you do for the least of these my brethren you do for Me", so let's clothe Jesus this week.

Webcam testers

If anyone is going to not be in Sunday school this week but by a computer please let me know. We are going to be broadcasting the class live and I'd like to hear ideas about the experience. There is a link at the top of the page and you don't even have to login or anything to watch. We will also be recording and archiving the lessons for viewing later. This is a great way for friends who don't want to come to a church (for whatever reason) or can't to get the word.

Fall

A friend of mine just returned from a trip to Colorado just this week. She tried to explain to me the amazing views. I tried to envision the TN mountains, only taller, vaster, more vibrant, more massive. It made me smile! Because fall is my favorite time of year. I adore the cool air, the sound of leaves under foot, wearing sweaters and coats, not to mention the colors!! The beautiful colors!!

As much as I adore fall, even anticipate the beauty unfolding over a few weeks, God called it 'good.' Good. That's it? Just good?? It takes my breathe away!! But our awesome God called it good. (Genesis 1)

God convicted me with the best part which literally took my breath... God called man 'very good.' You mean, the majesty that is the canvas He chose to create is less than how He views us?!?!? WOW!!

Listen again, God thinks YOUR greater than fall! Your greater than the vast oceans, greater than all He has created! Praise God!!

Hey folks, It is another Tuesday staring us in the face. Ana just told me that her days were flying by. Ha, She doesn't have a clue does she. Every time we catch a breath we end up on the freeway of life, bumper to bumper. I just want to leave you with a few reminders.

We will be celebrating the Vermeulen's future addition on Sunday morning. They do not know if it a boy or a girl (I bet it is one or the other!) A gift in the line of some baby necessities would be great for them. We will have a cake in place of donuts Sunday morning as you come in and you can leave your gift for them on the table if you would like. We will have class as usual.

Men, don't forget the men's breakfast Saturday morning. We will eat some fine vittles and then go to Melba's Manor to work a while. It seems right now that most of the work for this week will be done before twelve. This project will be ongoing, and we will have the opportunity to work on it again if you want to. Maria Stewart is doing an awesome job there! Thanks to so many of you for stepping in and getting this project done.

I am very excited to announce the formation of a class blog. Doc Clear and Jessica Traylor have put together an awesome way to extend the lesson. There will be a link at the end of the e-mail to get to it. Your team captains have brainstormed and came up with several awesome ideas. It is such a pleasure to work with these creative folks. I will also leave a link to our website. Testimonies will be on the site in about a week or so. I apologize for the delay, but Ray Corley's testimony will be well worth it!

It looks as though we will have live web cam very soon. This is a way for folks to see what's going on in class if they miss for some reason. Please see the technology folks and thank them.

There are some really wonderful nights of singing coming up. Charles Billingsley will be this Sunday night and the Lee University choir will be Nov. 7th. Mark your calendars. See all of you Sunday and many of you tomorrow.

Psalm 3:5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me.

This is part of a bigger Psalm written by David. There were many times that David found himself fleeing for his life, hiding, and praying that God would help him. David, as flawed as he was, always gave God the glory for delivering him in times of great distress. This Psalm was no different. We are going to focus on this verse only because of its powerful meaning for all of us.

We pray nightly for our safety. We pray that our children will be safe and protected. It may frustrate the Lord a little, but I pray over everything until I feel like it is all covered. The kids really don't seem to mind considering they don't even like going to turn the light on in the basement by themselves. I find great comfort in knowing that while I am asleep, God is busy protecting His children. Spiritual warfare is happening all around us yet we cannot be touched without the consent of a holy and omnipresent God.

I understand that though it is quite routine to go to bed every night expecting to wake up, it is also possible to wake up in another place altogether. He is so good to move our chests in and out, over and over to sustain our breathing. He is so faithul to sustain our bodies in times of great suffering.I am more than confident that he can sustain you through anything that you are facing. We will be able to stand tomorrow because He did what He does best. He kept his promises. When I go to sleep in just a few minutes, I will pray for all of you. I will pray!

Stay in the boat

From Acts 27 : 27-44
²⁷On the fourteenth night we were still being driven across the Adriatic^b]">[b] Sea, when about midnight the sailors sensed they were approaching land. ²⁸They took soundings and found that the water was a hundred and twenty feet^c]">[c] deep. A short time later they took soundings again and found it was ninety feet^d]">[d] deep. ²⁹Fearing that we would be dashed against the rocks, they dropped four anchors from the stern and prayed for daylight. ³⁰In an attempt to escape from the ship, the sailors let the lifeboat down into the sea, pretending they were going to lower some anchors from the bow. ³¹Then Paul said to the centurion and the soldiers, "Unless these men stay with the ship, you cannot be saved." ³²So the soldiers cut the ropes that held the lifeboat and let it fall away.

³³Just before dawn Paul urged them all to eat. "For the last fourteen days," he said, "you have been in constant suspense and have gone without food—you haven't eaten anything. ³⁴Now I urge you to take some food. You need it to survive. Not one of you will lose a single hair from his head." ³⁵After he said this, he took some bread and gave thanks to God in front of them all. Then he broke it and began to eat. ³⁶They were all encouraged and ate some food themselves. ³⁷Altogether there were 276 of us on board. ³⁸When they had eaten as much as they wanted, they lightened the ship by throwing the grain into the sea.

³⁹When daylight came, they did not recognize the land, but they saw a bay with a sandy beach, where they decided to run the ship aground if they could. ⁴⁰Cutting loose the anchors, they left them in the sea and at the same time untied the ropes that held the rudders. Then they hoisted the foresail to the wind and made for the beach. ⁴¹But the ship struck a sandbar and ran aground. The bow stuck fast and would not move, and the stern was broken to pieces by the pounding of the surf.

⁴²The soldiers planned to kill the prisoners to prevent any of them from swimming away and escaping. ⁴³But the centurion wanted to spare Paul's life and kept them from carrying out their plan. He ordered those who could swim to jump overboard first and get to land. ⁴⁴The rest were to get there on planks or on pieces of the ship. In this way everyone reached land in safety.

A month or so ago God placed these verses on my heart. I wasn't sure what to do with them but I know it's important so I wrote on a piece of paper..."STAY IN THE BOAT". So for a month now I've had this 8X10 piece of paper on the fridge with these letters scrawled out over the whole paper. Every time I pass the fridge I think in my head... 'aye aye captain!'. During my time in the Navy I was on an aircraft carrier. I can remember many storms we went through at sea but there is one time that especially comes to my mind. We were out in the South Pacific days from land and there was a special occasion. We had 2 typhoons back to back that we went through. If you've ever seen Top Gun then you know how huge an aircraft carrier is. Well, waves were crashing over the flight deck which was about 50 feet over the water. These storms lasted a good two days until we finally reached stability again. It seemed like forever and lots of people got sea sick. I can't imagine what Paul and the men aboard this ship felt like.

The most important thing to remember when you are in a storm out on the water is to STAY IN THE BOAT! The same thing applies to storms in life. Sometimes we expect the storm to blow over quickly and it seems to end up like a huge rain cloud following you everywhere. I can imagine that's how everyone in the boat with Paul felt. So what did Paul do? He stayed in the boat and prayed. He urged the men to eat to sustain themselves. I think this means that we have to maintain ourselves for if we don't then when the storm subsides it won't matter. Continue to pray and seek God's protection (which is your boat).

When the storm rages, when the rain comes, when the wind blows, when enemies assail you, when foes come upon you, when dark clouds gather around you, whatever you do, stay in the boat!

Don't quit in the storm. STAY IN THE BOAT!

Don't give up in the storm. STAY IN THE BOAT!

Don't jump overboard when the first wind slaps you in the face. STAY IN THE BOAT!

Don't abandon your life vest, don't lower your sail, don't cut off your engines, don't participate in the mutiny of self-destruction. STAY IN THE BOAT!
